An Ausgrid defect notice is issued when an Ausgrid inspector identifies an unsafe electrical asset on your property, such as your switchboard, service line or private power pole. You will be provided with a timeframe for compliance, after which time you risk disconnection until a defect rectification is approved and completed by a Level 2 electrician. The defect rectification must be completed by a Level 2 electrician and reported back to the network for approval.
If you are unable to provide evidence of defect rectification by the due date, you may be subjected to disconnection. This can potentially lead to loss of income if the disconnection occurs at a commercial site.
